A must-see for locals and travelers alike, the Museum of Natural History is located on a hill overlooking the Morro Bay Estuary, and provides panoramic views of the coastline and world-famous Morro Rock. With 26 new interactive exhibits designed to educate and entertain both young and old, each visitor will have the opportunity to learn about the bay and estuary ecosystems. In hands-on fashion, visitors can build a sand dune, dig into the food pit to create their own food chains, and operate the hydrologic cycle. Among the display of local animals, a stuffed otter is available for petting and the skeleton of a dolphin retrieved from the sand spit just outside the museum hangs overhead. Open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, children 16 and under are free and entry fee for adults is $2.
